Head of Sailing
Responsibilities:
Manage a team of three to four sailing instructors (schedules, clocking in/out, employee evaluations)
Organize and execute preseason sailing set up and post season close and staff training
Establish and execute daily staff procedures, for example, rigging and de-rigging of boats
Take ownership over the sailing program; create, teach and supervise classes on-land and on-water
Manage, inspire and encourage staff development and growth of approximately four sailing instructors
Implement and monitor all safety plans and policies
Must have a safety-first mindset with strong leadership, communication and coaching skills
Ability to provide a safe and fun environment for our Juniors and sailing instructors
Manage CANSail certifications and provide student evaluation
Teaching Wet Feet and CANSail 1-4
Host and run a sailing regatta for our Junior members
Assist with the MLA sailing regatta held at MLG&CC
Communicate with members in a positive and friendly manner
Communicate effectively with the Programs Manager
Qualifications:
2 years experience coaching sailing
Completion of CANSail 3&4 Instructor Course or Advanced Instructor Course or CANSail 5&6 Instructor
PCOC - Pleasure Craft Operators Card
Sail Canada Instructor Registration
Current First Aid & CPR (or equivalent) certification
Police Record Check (dated within 6 months of start date)
Sailing and teaching experience
Capable of teaching both practical and theoretical
Ability to work in a team environment
Period of Employment:
Seasonal (Mid June to end of August)

Sailing Instructors
Responsibilities:
To provide sailing instruction, consistent with the Ontario Sailing Association and/or Canadian Yachting Association recommendations
Assist in the maintenance of the Club’s fleet of sail craft
Assist the Head of Sailing with the operation of the department
Ability to provide a safe and fun environment for our Juniors
Create and teach lesson plans, teach Wet Feet and CANSail 1-4 and provide student evaluation
Communicate with members in a positive and friendly manner
Assist to run a sailing regatta for our Junior members
Assist with the MLA sailing regatta held at MLG&CC
Assist with weekly Family Nights
Qualifications:
Current C.Y.A CANSail 1&2 or 3&4 Instructor Certificate (or equivalent)
Current PCOC - Pleasure Craft Operators Card
Sail Canada Instructor Registration
Current First Aid & CPR certificate
Police Record Check (dated within 6 months of start date)
Sailing and teaching experience
