Aquatic Supervisor

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of two to three swim instructors, including scheduling, clocking in/out, and conducting employee evaluations
  • Inspire, encourage, and support the professional growth and development of swim instructors
  • Lead regular staff meetings to ensure clear communication and alignment on goals and procedures
  • Take ownership of the swimming program by creating, teaching, and supervising both on-land and on-water classes
  • Manage all aspects of the program, including the organization and execution of preseason setup and postseason close
  • Establish and enforce daily staff procedures, such as tidying away swim equipment and maintaining a clean and organized facility
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing feedback and assessments as needed
  • Manage all Lifesaving Society certifications, ensuring that staff and students meet the required standards
  • Implement and monitor all safety plans and policies, ensuring a safety-first mindset is maintained throughout the program
  • Conduct regular safety drills and training sessions for staff to ensure preparedness in case of emergencies
  • Lifeguard and instruct at a range of levels, from toddler swim classes to advanced leadership courses, ensuring all activities are conducted safely
  • Communicate effectively with Members, providing a positive and welcoming environment for all participants
  • Work closely with the Programs Manager to coordinate schedules, resolve issues, and ensure the smooth operation of the swimming program
  • Maintain open lines of communication with staff, addressing any concerns and providing ongoing feedback and support
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross
  • Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard
  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor
  • Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor
  • Lifesaving Society Bronze Examiner
  • Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED
  • Capable and experienced in teaching both practical and theoretical aspects of swimming and lifesaving
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • A safety-first mindset with a commitment to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment
  • Police Record Check dated within six months of the start date
  • Certification of each award must not expire prior to September 1st of the given year
Period of Employment:
  • Seasonal - Mid June to end of August
  • Full time

Swimming Instructor

Responsibilities:
  • Perform instructional duties, teaching swim classes across a range of levels from toddlers to advanced leadership courses
  • Provide lifeguard services, ensuring the safety of all swimmers during lessons and open swim times
  • Evaluate and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help them achieve their goals
  • Maintain a consistent level of member service by demonstrating a commitment to excellence and professionalism in all interactions
  • Communicate effectively with members, offering a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants
  • Participate in staff training and development programs to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices in swim instruction and lifeguarding
  • Collaborate with the Aquatic Supervisor and other team members to ensure consistent delivery of the swimming program
  • Assist the Aquatic Supervisor with administrative tasks, including managing schedules, completing evaluations, providing feedback, preparing statistical reports, maintaining inventory, and promoting the swim program
  • Help with the organization and execution of weekly Family Nights, contributing to a fun and engaging atmosphere for members
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols set out by the Lifesaving Society and the Club
  • Ensure all certifications are current and comply with the requirements of the position
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe aquatic environment
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Aquatic Supervisor or management to support the overall operation of the aquatic program
  • Actively contribute to creating a positive team environment and work collaboratively with other staff members
  • All other duties as assigned
